About The Neuropsychological Evaluation
North Neuropsychology provides comprehensive virtual neuropsychological evaluations for adults (ages 18+), allowing you to complete testing from the comfort of your own home. We specialize in assessing concerns related to neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma-related disorders, and neurological disease.
A neuropsychological evaluation is designed to bring together multiple sources of information to better understand how your brain is functioning. This process helps clarify concerns related to thinking, memory, attention, and emotional well-being, while identifying the factors contributing to your current symptoms.
Each evaluation includes a clinical interview, review of relevant medical records, and standardized testing. During the interview, the doctor will discuss your concerns, history, and goals for the evaluation. With your permission, input from a family member or support person may also be included to provide additional perspective. Relevant records—such as prior evaluations or neuroimaging (e.g., MRI)—are reviewed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your history.
Testing involves a series of structured tasks that assess a range of cognitive abilities, including intellectual functioning, attention, learning and memory, language, academic skills, visuospatial abilities, executive functioning, and fine motor skills. You will also complete questionnaires to better understand emotional and psychological functioning.
The results of the evaluation help determine whether cognitive changes are related to a neurological condition, psychological factors (such as depression or anxiety), or normal aging. This information is then used to guide accurate diagnosis and individualized, practical recommendations.
Virtual evaluations typically take 2–4+ hours, depending on the referral question. Breaks are available at any time to ensure comfort throughout the process.
